What Happens Next?

If we are collecting your vehicle

We will be in touch within 24 hours and confirm your collection date. We will also email you a “Standard Shipping Note” which will need to accompany the vehicle at all times to ensure entry at the port of exit. This document details the vessel name, export reference and departure port. It clearly identifies your vehicle to officials at the port of exit. At the time of collection we will ensure the vehicle is checked and a vehicle inspection report is completed. Similar to a document when you hire a car this will identify any dents, scratches or defects and is a requirement for insurance purposes and to ensure the vehicle arrives with you in the condition it has been shipped. If we are collecting the vehicle using a chauffeur driver we will also require a current MOT to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.

If you are delivering the vehicle to a depot or port

We will give you the delivery address and contact numbers by return email. We will also email you a “Standard Shipping Note” A “Standard Shipping Note” needs to accompany your vehicle at all times, this will be sent to you shortly by email. Please ensure you take it with you in order that your vehicle can be logged and processed at the port of exit or container loading station. We will have pre-advised the terminal of your arrival, please give them the Standard Shipping Note. If you have not arranged suitable transport after dropping your car off please tell us in advance and we can arrange a taxi or transport to the nearest train or bus station.

Booking Your Vehicle on the Ship

Once we have all the papers and payment we can now book your vehicle on the appropriate vessel. We will advise you immediately of the vessel name, sailing date and arrival time. Once the vessel has sailed we will email you your insurance certificate and a document called a “Bill of Lading”. This is the shipping lines own legal document and is evidence that the vehicle is on the ship and the ship has sailed. This document shows all the necessary details of you and your vehicle and includes the vessel name, departure and arrival port. A copy of this document, along with your passport, will be required by the destination agents as proof of ownership. We will advise you of the contact details of our overseas agents before the ship has sailed.

On Arrival

It is important you contact the destination agents at least a few days before arrival in order that they can start the customs clearance procedures in advance and avoid any delays at the port. There may be further charges to pay in respect of port charges, customs formalities, or in some countries duty and taxes. Our agents will advise you beforehand and once paid and the vehicle cleared customs they will make an appointment for you to collect the vehicle. If you have any questions on additional fees at destination please contact us.
